Shake well before use. Apply liberally and evenly to the body 20 minutes before sun exposure. Re-apply every 2 hours or more often if you’re sweating, swimming or towel drying.

Q. Can I wear this product whilst swimming?
A. Our Sunscreen Lotion is 4 hours water resistant. We recommend reapplying at least every 2 hours, or more often after swimming, sweating, exercise or towel drying.

Q. What is broad spectrum sunscreen?
A. The term Broad Spectrum is used when sunscreen provides protection against both UVA and UVB rays.

  • Ultraviolet A (UVA) rays are present all year round and can penetrate the deeper layers of the skin (dermis), contributing to visible skin ageing.
  • Ultraviolet B (UVB) rays are more intense during sunny conditions and are associated with sunburn to the outer layer of the skin (epidermis).

Q. How often should I reapply?
A. Sunscreen should be applied liberally and evenly 15–20 minutes before sun exposure and reapplied every 2 hours, or more often when sweating, swimming, exercising or towel drying.

As sunscreen can wear off throughout the day, in addition to reapplying, wear protective clothing, a hat and sunglasses, and seek shade where possible.

Q. What is SPF?
A. SPF or ‘Sun Protection Factor’ is a rating that refers to the amount of UV protection the product is providing compared to unprotected skin. For example, broad spectrum sunscreens with SPF 60 block more than 98.3% of UV, whereas an SPF 30 blocks 96.7% of UV. While SPF 30 is certainly better than no SPF at all, the higher SPF you wear, the more protected you are. Direct sun exposure can change the texture and elasticity in your skin, which can contribute to premature skin aging like wrinkles.

Q. How are Bondi Sands SPF products tested?
A. All Bondi Sands SPF products undergo rigorous testing to ensure they meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. Product claims are supported by validated testing, including SPF, broad spectrum and water-resistance testing where applicable.

Q. What’s the difference between chemical and physical (mineral) sunscreens?
A. Chemical sunscreens absorb UV rays and convert them into a small amount of heat. They are typically lightweight, fast absorbing and leave no white cast.

Physical (mineral) sunscreens sit on the surface of the skin and reflect UV rays. They are often formulated with ingredients such as zinc oxide and may leave a visible tint. Some tinted formulas may not suit all skin tones.

Q. If I wear a sunscreen rated SPF 50, does it mean I’m fully protected from the sun?
A. No. Sunscreen helps reduce UV exposure but does not block 100% of UV radiation. Sunscreen should be used as part of a broader sun protection routine.
