Exciting times at Bondi Sands HQ, as we’ve just announced our most thrilling hire to date. Colt Paulsen, AKA @gaymanwithaspraytan, has been appointed Chief Tanning Officer (‘CTO’ for short) – the first C-suite role of its kind.
From growing up in a rural town of 4,000 people to growing his social media following to over 1 million, the 28-year-old TikTok star and Nebraska native joins the iconic Bondi Sands executive leadership team to bring fresh vision and foresight with bronze-coloured glasses.
Throughout his tenure, Colt will serve as a brand ambassador for all things Bondi! He’ll be hosting events, international brand popups, QVC(R) programs and taking a cheeky trip down under for the full Aussie experience. Colt is the sparkling star when it comes to our self tanning DNA, providing tanning education and tips and tricks to guide consumers to get the best glowing results from our award-winning self tanners.
“When we were evaluating our current executive team, we knew we needed the tanning authority on board with a persona as iconic as our Bondi Beach-inspired tan,” said Bondi Sands Chief Marketing Officer. “We’re thrilled to have Colt play a pivotal role in broadening our impact and bringing the Australian glow to the world.”
Known for his all-over golden glow and wealth of Kardashian-Jenner knowledge, the entertainment expert and Host of E! News’ Kards Katch Up previously hosted Bondi Sands’ blue carpet Technocolor launch event in April 2023 in Los Angeles, as well as celebrated our launch into Walmart stores at the Bondi Sands Beach Club Miami pop-up in September.
“I’ve been a huge Bondi Sands fan for YEARS now, so to be Bondi Sands’ first-ever CTO is a true honor and a privilege. I’m thrilled to be a part of the biggest tanning brand in the world,” said Paulsen. “I can’t wait to let my passion for self tan shine (with a K!). I’ve always joked that Ken’s job is beach and my job is tan, and now I have an official title to prove it.”
While we might have taught Colt a thing or two about Aussie culture while he was here at Bondi Sands HQ down under this year, unfortunately he’s not quite a native yet... take his viral faux pas when attempting to open a tin of Milo, for example.

Aussie outrage ensued in the comments, with one user remarking “As an Australian, this physically hurt my soul.” Another suggested “use a spoon mate.” Hats off for the effort, Colt!
