Lovers, it’s time to make SPF your everyday BFF and we’re here to tell you why! So, if it isn’t already, sunscreen is about to become an essential part of your everyday beauty regime.
Whether it's the hottest day of the year or a chilly, overcast day in winter, it’s important to keep your skin safe and protected. SPF is a must all year round as UV can penetrate through glass, therefore if you’re inside or outdoors, even if it’s cloudy, you should always be protecting your skin from damaging rays.
When choosing a sunscreen, always make sure your suncare products offer both UVA and UVB protection. UVA rays can prematurely age your skin and UVB can burn your skin, so make sure the sunscreen you choose protects you from both. All the products within the Bondi Sands Suncare range have a broad-spectrum formula, meaning they protect you against both harmful UVA and UVB rays. They are also reef friendly*, water resistant and ultra hydrating, so you can get out and enjoy the sun with confidence!
To help you look and feel your best after hitting the great outdoors, we’ve compiled a helpful guide all about suncare, from application to the benefits of After Sun.
How Often Should You Reapply Sunscreen?
We recommend applying sunscreen at least 15-20 minutes before sun exposure and then reapplying every two hours. You should reapply sunscreen more often if you go swimming, after towel drying or sweating after activity. Even though our suncare products are water-resistant, you will still need a top-up after these activities to keep your skin extra protected.
You’ll need at least one teaspoon per limb, one for the front of the body, one for the back and one for the head. Don’t forget the tops of your feet if you're wearing open-toe shoes or thongs (the feet-kind for our non-Aussies mates).
As sunscreen does wear off over the day, in addition to reapplying, ensure to bring a hat and sunglasses to protect your face and something light to cover your skin if the weather is warm, and try to stay in the shade as much as possible, to protect yourself against the harmful effects of sun exposure that can lead to skin cancer and melanoma.
Can You Tan Through Self Tan?
Yes, you can still tan through self tan, however, it’s important to know our self tans do not offer any sun protection. If you’ve given yourself a glow-up with our self tan products, and you’re feeling like you’ve spent a week on a tropical island, we still recommend always applying sunscreen over the top of your Bondi Sands tan.
Sunscreen For Your Face
Applying sunscreen to your face should become an essential part of your morning beauty regime. Not only does it block the harmful effects of UVA and UVB, but sunscreen for your face also helps to keep your skin looking healthy and youthful. Our face sunscreens are water resistant, fast absorbing and dry to an invisible finish, making them the perfect base for your makeup.
How Much Sunscreen Should You Apply to Your Face?
We recommend applying around a teaspoon of sunscreen to your face, however, you may need more or less depending on your face size and shape. Make sure you use enough to cover the whole area, including eyelids, ears and neck.

Sunscreen For Acne Prone Skin
If you suffer from acne or blemish-prone skin the thought of putting sunscreen on might freak you out a little. Typically, we think of sunscreen as being greasy, which isn’t a good combination for those with an oily complexion. The good news is our Fragrance Free SPF suncare range has been formulated to be non-greasy, gentle on the skin and non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores. It’s also enriched with aloe vera and Vitamin E to leave your skin moisturized and glowing.
What Does After Sun Do?
After Sun is the perfect way to rehydrate and soothe skin following a day spent in the sun. Bondi Sands After Sun products are enriched with aloe vera, designed to provide relief and hydration to irritated skin. Just pop on after periods of sun exposure for an instant cooling effect and to help restore sun-damaged skin.
Enjoy The Sun With Confidence!
We hope we’ve answered lots of your suncare questions and helped to make you feel more confident when it comes to SPF and protecting yourself.
Whatever your plans are, sun soaked or otherwise, we hope you have the best time! And remember, always take sunscreen with you wherever you go!
